Organic Farming & Diversified Crop Production

A five-year organic farming project combining open-field vegetables and field crops with protected vegetable production in tunnels. The crop portfolio included broccoli, lettuce, cabbage, canola, wheat, potato, onion, garlic, and mint. Tunnel crops included cucumber, tomato, bell pepper, and chilli.

Vermicompost & Biochar: Preparation and Application

Building on PhD research, this work covered vermicompost and biochar preparation and their application in agricultural settings. The focus was on soil improvement, organic matter, and exploring how these amendments can be incorporated into practical crop and soil management plans.

Mixed Fruit Orchard Management

A mixed-fruit orchard project featuring guava, fig, and citrus trees. The work focuses on practical orchard management, including tree health monitoring, soil improvement, irrigation planning, crop nutrition, pruning, and pest and disease management. The goal is to support healthy tree growth, productive fruit development, and sustainable orchard performance through informed seasonal management practices.

Field success story · Sihala

Putting root health at the center of tunnel production.

Over a one-year nematode-management project in tunnel crops at Sihala, the work focused on recognizing nematode-related symptoms, evaluating crop and root health, and using an integrated management approach suited to the production system.

The key lesson: effective nematode management starts with correct diagnosis, regular monitoring, and a plan that considers the crop, soil, and tunnel environment together.

For a results-led case study, add the crop, confirmed nematode species, management measures used, and verified before-and-after observations or yield data.

How we work

Practical thinking, from research to field.

Each project starts with the growing system and its needs, then brings together observation, informed planning, and follow-up.

1. Assess

Understand the crop, field conditions, production system, and the challenge that needs attention.

2. Plan

Develop a practical approach for crop management, plant health, protected cultivation, or soil improvement.

3. Apply & Learn

Apply suitable practices, monitor progress, and use field observations to guide future decisions.
